GENERAL INFORMATION |

Relaxing and stylish, with a personal feel.
KINASI is a small, private lodge situated in a coconut and cashew plantation facing Chole Bay on Mafia Island.
Our catering is based upon local seafood: fresh fish, prawns, crab, lobster, octopus and calamari, with fresh vegetables and fruit flown from the mainland. Our breads, rolls, pizzas and variety of yoghurts, preserves and sauces are all home made, from traditional recipes. Seafood barbecues and Swahili cuisine are established KINASI customs.
Most of all there is tranquility and privacy in beautiful, natural surroundings, and our friendly staff will do their best to look after you with service to your rooms, morning tea and coffee with fresh biscuits and cakes, sundowners and cocktails, delicious food and attention to any requests you may have. KINASI started as a private home, and that is how we wish our guests to feel - as if they are in their own home. So enjoy Mafia and this little retreat we have created with all its activities, the swimming pool, gardens and beach, and the relaxed atmosphere and good company.

Scuba diving and snorkelling at its best
Mafia Island and its reefs are renown as an excellent, World-class diving destination. Scientists have confirmed that Mafia has some of the richest reefs in the World, with an unparalleled variety of hard and soft corals and diversity of tropical fish. We have identified fabulous dive sites from Mafia to Kilwa offering shallow reefs of immense beauty and richness, bommies, channels, walls and caves, drift and night dives. These are new sites and we have years of exploration to do.
KINASI offers great diving for advanced and novice divers in safety under professional instruction. We take great snacks and picnic lunches aboard our dive boats and stay out for two-tank dives or, after diving, enjoy the rest of the day with a visit to other islands or historic and interesting sites. The snorkelling on the shallow reefs surrounding the many islands in and around Chole Bay is a great attraction for non-divers and divers alike.

Only 12 Bungalows
It provides a high standard of accommodation in only twelve bungalows (one is a family unit with two bedrooms), each with a large verandah and ensuite bathroom. The bungalows have been constructed in rendered concrete block, with palm-leaf (makuti) roofs, and concrete foundations and floors. There is all-day mains electricity and hot and cold water supply from three permanent wells on the property.
The intention has been to create a resort that is relaxing and stylish, with a very personal feel. KINASI is beautifully furnished with antiques and hand-crafted furniture, made for us to our own designs. The dining room is appointed with crockery and hand-blown glassware made specially for us and there are original works of art by East African artists.

The Family Room consists of two bedrooms, sharing bathroom.

Currency
All rates shown are in US Dollars (US$).
Rates include
All rates shown are per room/suite and includes all taxes. Rates are based on full board.
Airport Transfers
Road transfer from Mafia airport to Kinasi (15km) will come at a rate of USD 25.00 return per person.
Flights
Mafia has daily scheduled air services with same-day connections to the Ruaha, Selous, Arusha, Pemba and Zanzibar; all flights can be booked direct or through Kinasi.
Coastal Aviation flies every day with a direct connection on its aircraft from Arusha via Zanzibar and the Selous. Prices are:
DSM-MAF US$ 100 per person one way
ZNZ-MAF US$ 140 per person one way
SEL-MAF US$ 240 per person one way
ARU-MAF US$ 280 per person one way
Tropical Air operates the morning schedule to Mafia leaving Dar es Salaam at 1000 with a direct connection from Zanzibar. This is an excellent service for arrivals on British Airways. The seat prices are as for Coastal.

Kinasi has its own light aircraft and charters additional aircraft as required to ensure guests can fly directly from Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar or the Selous (and other destinations on request) to Mafia if the scheduled flights do not fit client itineraries. Seat prices on Kinasis aircraft are:
DSM-MAF US$ 120 per person one way
ZNZ-MAF US$ 160 per person one way
SEL-MAF US$ 240 per person one way
Please note that for any domestic flight in Tanzania every passenger will be requested to pay Airport tax TShs 5,000 and Security Fees TShs 1,000 (approximately US$ 6 total). Airport tax and Security Fees are not included in flight rates and they can change without prior notice. The international departure tax is US$ 30 and is included in ticket prices ex-Dar es Salaam but NOT ex-Zanzibar.
All airline rates and scheduled flights and government service charges are subject to change without notice.
Marine Park Fees EXCLUDED
Kinasi is located within a marine park. A fee of USD 10.00 per person per day is charged by the Mafia Island Marine Park. This is NOT INCLUDED in the rates. Kinasi usually prepays this for you and we add the fees to your invoice.
Payment Requirements
For your convenience, Internet Hotel Rental Group offers secure online payments with the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please note that, should you prefer, you are able to supply your credit card information by fax. We are unable to accept your reservation request without credit card details, though you will only be billed once your booking has been confirmed, the credit card information verified and our confirmation voucher sent to you by email.
For all reservations
-Upon confirmation, a 20% will be charged to secure the room.
-An additional 30% will be charged within a few days.
-The remaining balance will be charged one month prior to arrival.
Cancellation Policy
-If cancellation is received 32 days or more prior to arrival, then a 20% of the full amount will be lost.
-If a cancellation is received between 31 and 15 days or less prior to arrival, then an additional 50% penalty fee will apply.
-Cancellations received 14 days or less will result in the full amount being charged as a cancellation fee.
-No shows will result on the full amount being charged as a cancellation fee.
Children Policy
-Children under the age of 5 sharing room with their parents can stay free of charge.
-Children aged between 5 and 12 will get a 50% discount on adult rates.
-Children over the age of 12 are considered as adults.
Liability
Internet Travel Group acts as intermediary between all hotels, transport operators, tourist attraction companies, and local tourist offices providing the services. Internet Travel Group is therefore not responsible for any loss, injury or damage sustained by the tourists; including those occurring outside of the touring programs. Additional expenses incurred due to delay, accident, acts of God or political actions / unrest must be borne by the tourists. Programs and prices, services and conditions are based on those valid at the time of being posted on the site. They are therefore subject to change without advance notice before or during the tour / stay / excursion / car rental. A submitted reservation request is indicative of the tourist agreement to the above conditions.

Price & Payment
Unless otherwise stated, at the time of booking only a deposit is due. The remanining balance is payable on check-in and charged by the hotel direct. hotel-savings.com accepts Visa, Mastercard & American Express.
For security purposes, should your reservation incur a charge in excess of USD 400.00, you must submit a signed credit card authorization form. This will be supplied upon confirmation of the reservation. If you fail to fax across this documentation within 48 hours, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation. Please note that as per our cancellation policy, there may be a fee for this.
Flight Information
If you are to arrive at your hotel after 5pm, please provide Hotelrentalgroup with your flight information, so that we may be able to advise the hotel of what time they can expect you. Should your flight be delayed, we strongly recommend that you contact the hotel directly to inform them of this.
Period of Stay / Rate Calculation
All stays are calculated and sold "per night". We can only guarantee a room until noon (12pm). Late check-outs can be requested at the moment of reservation in the additional comments box, but may come at an additional fee (usually 50% of the nightly rate).
Cancellation Policies & Charges
Cancellations must be received in writing by e-mail, with as much notice as possible. Penalty fees may apply. Please check the terms & conditions, as these policies vary from hotel to hotel.
Cancellation Charges On All Reservations
-On all confirmed reservations, 20% of the total amount will be lost.
-Further cancellation charges may apply depending on the hotel.
Please check the specific terms & conditions for each hotel.
No Shows
No Shows will result in a 100% penalty fee.
Reservation & Confirmation
All reservations made on the web sites operated by hotel-savings.com will receive a temporary confirmation number. This temporary number does not mean that the hotel room is available and is only for administrative purposes. Your final confirmation will be sent to you on your official confirmation voucher within 24 hours, unless, due to unforeseen circumstances, the hotel does not get back to us within this time frame. hotel-savings.com is not responsible for any such delays.
Early departures
In addition to the standard cancellation policy, we would like to stress the point that the hotels are very strict regarding changes to the length of clients’ stays. Therefore we would like to inform you that clients departing before their booked check out date will be charged for the remaining nights and, no being made for unused nights.
Check In & Check Out Policy
Your room will be made available to you from 14h00 (unless stated otherwise in the terms & conditions of the hotel). Should you require a guaranteed early check in, the room must be booked and paid for in full for the day preceeding your stay.
Check out time is 12:00 hrs. For a guaranteed late check-out, clients should book for an additional night, charged at 100%.
Special offers and Value Added Extras
All special offers, packages and discounts over our standard rates are offered subject to availability. hotel-savings.com cannot accept any responsibility in the unlikely event that these are temporarily unavailable.
Credit Card
In order to secure a room, it is mandatory to have a credit card.
General Conditions and liability
All reservations made by clients are subject to our terms and conditions. No other terms, conditions and warranties, expressed or implied by law, custom and course of dealing shall form part of any contract between hotel-savings.com and our clients except for those terms imposed by law where application is mandatory.
The client acknowledges that in making a reservation with hotel-savings.com they do so only on the basis of the material contained in the hotel-savings.com Web Site or relevant advertising medium. All other statements or representations made by hotel-savings.com, its employees, agents or sub-contractors are of no effect unless confirmed in writing by hotel-savings.com to the client.
hotel-savings.com sources hotels from various hotel companies in the countries in which it operates. The condition of the stay will be subject to the law of the country in which it is supplied to you. You will be subject to its terms and conditions and local law.
hotel-savings.com reserves the right to pass on to the client any government increase in local VAT or other taxes that may be introduced after a reservation is made. Any additional charges payable on arrival are subject to local VAT at the prevailing rate in that country.
The liability of hotel-savings.com to the client for any loss, problem, damage or cancellation, whether arising out of negligence, breach of contract, error or any other cause shall not exceed the invoiced total value of the confirmation voucher supplied by hotel-savings.com.
